So, yeah.... just picked up the DS Lite today.
One word for it: beautiful. Utterly beautiful. It's so smooth and responsive and... yeah. I haven't played any games on it, yet. But I have turned it on and messed with it a little. And for fun I turned off all the lights in the living room and turned on the DS. I could have read a book.

It was hard to find an installed demo unit, actually, but I did locate one the other day. Totally locked down, so I couldn't really get a good feel for how light it was, or boot to the dash to play with the brightness settings, but the one they had it set to really made for a vivid picture. The screen difference is fantastic. But I actually didn't like something about the labeling color of the buttons? I think I definitely will wait to import a Euro black one later on. (Or if they get smart and release it to the US.)
Oh, and in the US, Best Buy and Circuit City both have coupons for a free copy of Brain Age with your DS Lite good until Sunday, deal-seekers.

While playing on my DSfat on this very sunny day, it occured to me that I really do need a DSLite. It is pretty hard to see the screen because of the glare of the sun.

One thing I like about the DS lite is that it seals closed. The regular DS just.. closes and leaves the sides open, and dirt can get in. :(

Question: Are the DSLite's screens the same size as the regular DS?

I swear, everyone but me is freakin' blind. I just took mine outside and played it a bit in direct sunlight, and it looks fine; I can see the screens perfectly.

I like to play in the car, and if the car's going a direction where the sun enters, that messes it up pretty badly.

Question: Are the DSLite's screens the same size as the regular DS? Yes, they are. If even just a tad bigger.

My DSfat is the best. Who seriously plays outside? I do, especially when I commute on my transit system since that's when my DS usually get the most usage. The color resolution is nicer on the DSLite and I really like the stylus compared to the original. DSL's is a bit more fuller and I think a bit longer though I need to fully compare the length. The improved battery/charge time is also nice. Also I would go as far to say that aestically, it even beats the PSP. =) i'd be glad to take your DS fatties if you dont want them anymore So you can see if the PSP's weight can actually crush them? ;D Ha ha ha. The DSfat are actually heavier than the PSP.

I spent 150$ on that damn Mario Kart DS pack less than 6 months ago....
...and there's NO way I'm going back on that purchase now.
Then again, I used to own a game-gear ;P
